WTF Is Human Design?
When Self-Help Isn’t Helping…
I didn’t come to Human Design because I thought it was cool. I came to it because I was tired. Not just "need a nap" tired—but soul tired. Tired of trying to make decisions that didn’t stick. Tired of shape-shifting in rooms that didn’t see me. Tired of parenting on empty and wondering why the affirmation apps weren’t cutting it.
I didn’t need another self-help project. I needed a pause button. A pattern interrupt. Something that could help me make sense of the way I kept bumping into the same invisible walls—internally, relationally, generationally.
Enter: Human Design.
And yeah, I get it. The name sounds like a tech start-up. But it’s actually an energetic system—a synthesis of ancient wisdom and modern science—that maps out how you’re wired to move through the world. Not in theory. In practice. In Target. In traffic. In the middle of a Tuesday meltdown when everyone’s hungry and overstimulated.
So... what is it?
Human Design blends astrology, the I Ching, the chakra system, Kabbalah, and quantum physics to create a kind of energetic blueprint of your being. It shows you how your energy works—not how it should work, not how it’s been conditioned to work, but how it actually flows when you’re not fighting it.
Your blueprint (chart/bodygraph) lays out:
How you’re built to make decisions (hint: it’s not by overthinking),
Where you pick up energy from others,
What you’re here to express, experiment with, embody, or burn down,
And how to tell when you’re in alignment... or way off course.
The Five Types: You're not broken, you're just built different
Human Design begins with your Type, which is like your energetic role in the collective. There are five:
Generators: The steady flame. You’re here to respond to life, not force it. When you’re lit up, your energy feeds everyone. When you’re not, it drains the whole room—including you.
Manifesting Generators: Fast movers with nonlinear magic. You’re designed to pivot, skip steps, and do five things at once if your gut says yes.
Manifestors: The initiators. You’re not built to ask for permission, but you are here to inform others before you launch into the next thing your fire told you to start.
Projectors: The seers. You’re not here to hustle—you’re here to guide. Recognition and invitation are your green lights.
Reflectors: The mirrors. You feel everything because you are everything. Your clarity comes with time, not urgency.
There’s no hierarchy. No “better” type. Just different ways of being in rhythm with the world.
Strategy & Authority: AKA, How to Actually Trust Yourself
Human Design isn’t about self-improvement. It’s about self-remembrance. Each of us has a Strategy (how we engage with life) and an Authority (how we make decisions that are true to us). Most of us were raised to override both.
Your Strategy might be “wait to respond” or “wait for the invitation.” Your Authority might be your gut, your emotions, your voice, or—if you’re a Reflector—the moon herself. And yes, it can feel slow, weird, or wildly inconvenient.
But that’s kind of the point. This system slows you down just enough to hear what your body’s been whispering under the noise of "should."
It's not about labels. It’s about language.
Human Design didn’t give me a new identity. It gave me words for things I’ve always felt. It helped me parent my kids without projecting my own unresolved stuff all over their charts. It helped me see my husband not as someone to “understand,” but as someone I could learn to energetically respect.
It gave me compassion for the parts of me that don’t “keep up.”
And it gave me a framework for what alignment feels like—not just what it looks like on Instagram.
So that’s Human Design—less ‘fix yourself’ and more ‘finally understand why Costco gives you hives.’
WTF—Show Me My Chart?
Demystify it.
Your blueprint isn’t locked away. It’s free—physically, energetically, cosmically.
This is just a little vessel to hold what’s already yours.
